Exchange Diet (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is an iOS application designed to help people manage their daily nutrition using the Food Exchange System. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Data You Provide

Personal Profile Information

Age, gender, height, and body weight
Activity level and weight goal (lose / maintain / gain)
Custom calorie budget preferences

This information is used solely to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), and personalized daily nutrition goals.

Food & Meal Tracking Data

Foods you log, including portions and meal categories (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks)
Manual food entries you create
Daily tracker records

Data Collected Automatically

In-App Purchase Receipts

We process StoreKit purchase receipts locally on your device to validate subscriptions and purchases. No receipt data is transmitted to our servers.

Food Search Queries

When you search for foods using the in-app search, your query is sent to the FatSecret API (fatsecret.com) to retrieve food data. Please review FatSecret’s Privacy Policy for details on how they handle search data.

Camera / Barcode Scanning

The app may request camera access to scan food barcodes. Camera data is processed entirely on-device and is never stored or transmitted.

How We Store Your Data

All personal profile data, meal logs, and tracking records are stored locally on your device using the Realm database. We do not operate any servers that receive, store, or process your personal data.

Data never leaves your device (except food search queries sent to the FatSecret API, as noted above).
Data is included in your device’s standard iCloud or iTunes backup if you have backups enabled. This is controlled entirely by your device settings.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
We do not use advertising networks or tracking SDKs.
We do not share any data with third parties, except for food search queries sent to the FatSecret API.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services that transmit personal data off-device.

Children’s Privacy

Exchange Diet is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us so we can delete it.

Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

Access: You can view all your data within the app.
Correction: You can edit your profile and food logs at any time.
Deletion: You can delete individual entries or reset all data by deleting the app.
